Now Is Good

Genre - Drama, Romance.
I think the Now Is Good opening scene is creative. It starts off with Dakota Fanning walking down a street wearing a red dress, looking very confident. She is walking towards the camera, but then the camera turns so it is behind her (sticking to the 180 degree rule) and she starts running. But when she starts to run, it turns into an animation.
The colours used in the opening are bright, especially when it's turned into an animation.
During the animation, it shows a hand writing things such as "Drugs", "Drink", "Break The Law". This could show that Tessa (Dakota Fanning) is trying to do certain things before something happens, hence the name "Now Is Good".
A song by Lana Del Ray is playing throughout the opening scenes, and is quite slow to begin with. But when 'Tessa' begins to run it speeds up.
This opening scene is interesting and creative and would make me want to watch the film.

Film Genres

Generally I like all sorts of films. Comedy, Horror, Action, Musical, Dance, Drama, Science Fiction, Psychological Thrillers, Romance.
Most films interest me as long as they have a good story line, I like films that bring out emotions. Whether it be excitement, anger, happiness or sadness.
Some of my favourite films include: 10 Things I Hate About You, Girl Interrupted, Tangled, Dirty Dancing, The Avengers, Now Is Good, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, The Shining and Pohcahontas.
I'd like to make films that would inspire people, that people could relate to, that people would think about for weeks after watching it, forcing them to watch it again. I'd like to make films that play on the mind, that bring out emotions, a film that will make you laugh and cry, and make you angry and excited. I want to make films that could help people, or films that people would say to their friend "you should watch this film, it's fantastic",
As listed above, my favourite films are the kind of films that inspire me. All of them do different things for me. Tangled and Pohcahontas are films that make me feel innocent and childlike. Now Is Good, 10 Things I Hate About You and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower make me cry. The Avengers brings out a side of me that wants to be a super hero. The Shining is a horror that I enjoy, I think the story line is fantastic. And Girl, Interrupted is a Drama, and it leaves me thinking every time I watch it.

Dirty Dancing

Genre - Drama, Music, Romance.
Although Dirty Dancing is one of my favourite films, I don't think the opening credits are very good, I actually think they're quite boring.
It shows a dance scene (all in black and white), and you see lots of different couples dancing in different styles. Over the top of the scene there is pink writing, which makes it stand out more. The music playing over the top is 'Be My Baby' by The Ronettes. This song gives the opening scene quiet an upbeat tone. The camera goes to different couples slowly, showing most of the bodies, and blurring each of the couples together in separate shots.
Overall I don't really find the opening of this film is quite boring, and it doesn't really interest me.

Girl, Interrupted

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lClcw2IzOAY
Genre - Biography, Drama.
Girl, Interrupted is another one of my favourite films. And again, the beginning of this film doesn't give much away.
It starts off in quite a dark room that looks like a basement. This shows that whatever is going on is quite dark and grim. The music playing in the background is quite slow and soothing, but could also be classed as creepy.
It goes on to show Winona Ryder stroking Angelina Jolie's hair, everyone in the shot looks very depressed and sad.
Winona Ryder does a voice over, and she says "Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60s. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted."
At the end of the opening scene, it shows Winona Ryder having her shoulders shook, but you don't see who by. Which makes the audience want to watch on.

10 Things I Hate About You

Genre - Comedy, Drama, Romance.
10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favourite films, and the opening is interesting.
The whole thing is quite bright, they film the city as a background with writing over it. The writing is colourful and they use a font - like a teenagers scrawl - which makes it obvious that the film is going to be a film about teenagers.
In the opening scene, it shows a car with 4 girls in it, playing pop music. Then Julia Stiles pulls up next to them in her car, playing more of a rocky band quite loudly. From this point on you know that Julia Stiles' character 'Kat' is different from all the other girls.
The camera first goes over the city they live in, then it shows the school that they go to. The camera follows Kat behind her, to show both her and the things she is doing (e.g. ripping down a prom poster).
The music continues on from when Kat is in the car, showing that she is going to be one of the main characters in the film.
The opening to this film doesn't really reveal much about what's going to happen in the film, therefore making it intriguing.
